Write to contact@statementsmith.com. That is the only address, and it is a real mailbox rather than an alias pointing nowhere.

It is read on working days. Most things get an answer within a couple of them; a question that needs a file investigating may take longer, and you will be told rather than left waiting.

Please do not send us a bank statement

This is worth saying clearly, because it is the natural reflex when a file will not convert.

The whole point of this tool is that your statement is never uploaded. Emailing one to us would put a file full of somebody's transactions, often a client's, onto a mail server. That is exactly the thing the design avoids. We do not want it and we do not need it.

What to send instead when something will not convert

Almost every conversion problem can be diagnosed from the shape of the file rather than its contents:

• The bank and the export you used. The exact menu you took it from, if you can. Banks often offer several exports and only one of them holds transactions.
• The heading row, verbatim. Copy the first line of the file. It carries no transaction data and it is usually enough on its own.
• Two or three rows with the figures changed. Keep the shape: the same number of columns, the same date format, the same punctuation in the amounts. Replace the numbers and names with anything you like.
• What the site told you. The exact wording of the message, and what you expected instead.

A heading row plus two invented rows in the same format is genuinely more useful than a real statement, because it can be worked on freely without holding anyone's private data.

Privacy and data requests

Requests about personal data go to the same address. For anyone who has only used the converters there is very little to request: no cookies, no analytics, and nothing converted in your browser reaches a server at all. If you have an account it holds what the privacy page lists, and your settings page will export or delete the lot without anyone needing to be emailed about it.

What we cannot help with

Being clear about this saves you writing an email that cannot be answered:

• Recovering a statement you uploaded. It is never stored, so once the request has ended no copy exists anywhere on our side. A converted file is recoverable only if you are on a paid plan and switched on saved history before you converted. In that case it is in your account, rather than something you need to ask us for.
• Your accounting software's own settings. We can explain what a format is and what a file contains, but we have no visibility into your account with anyone else.
• Bookkeeping or tax advice. We are not accountants and will not pretend otherwise.
• Your bank's export screens. Those change often and differ by account type; your bank's own help pages will be current where ours would not be.

Reporting a security issue

If you have found a security problem, write to contact@statementsmith.com with enough detail to reproduce it, and please give us a reasonable chance to fix it before publishing.

Anything that would cause a converted file to leave the browser is the most serious class of bug this site can have, and will be treated that way.
